PERMISSION GRANTED AND FULL-SERVICE GENERAL CONTRACTOR DESIGNATED FOR THE CENTRAL MALLEY PROJECT.

Building work can now start on the Central Malley SBB Real Estate project. Planning permission has been granted by the municipalities of Prilly and Renens, and Implenia Switzerland Ltd has been tasked with constructing the five buildings making up the project.

Renens and Prilly town councils have granted planning permission for the five buildings making up the Central Malley project, which stretches across both municipalities. The construction of these five buildings is to be carried out by the full-service general contractor Implenia Switzerland Ltd. Implenia is the leading provider of construction and real estate services in Switzerland and creates places to live and work and infrastructure for future generations in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Sweden and Norway. The company, based in Opfikon near Zurich, specialises in major complex projects and has built numerous residential and commercial buildings in Switzerland, such as the Pont Rouge project in Geneva, successfully constructed as full-service general contractor for SBB Real Estate. SBB Real Estate and managers at Implenia Ltd are currently planning the work site, which will be operational from next spring.

The project.

The Central Malley project, the first stage in the redevelopment of the Malley brownfield site, straddles the boundary of the municipalities of Prilly and Renens, close to the CSM/Vaudoise Aréna and the Malley Lumières shopping centre. To the south of the new Prilly-Malley suburban train station, Central Malley connects the m1 metro line, the future t1 tram line and the future improved bus lines. A high-performance public transport network that fosters soft mobility. Not simply a gateway to western Lausanne, Central Malley will come to be a new destination in its own right. Set amidst green spaces, the buildings will offer retail and office space and around 200 homes.

The new neighbourhood will be sustainable, notably thanks to the ‘2,000-watt site’ certification, awarded to urban areas which commit to protecting the climate and prove they make sustainable use of resources.

Timeline.

Two architectural calls for tender for the project were made in 2018, one of which was won by the studio Aeby Perneger & Associés SA in Carouge and one by Pont 12 Architectes SA in Lausanne. According to the schedule, work should start in spring 2022 and end in March 2025. Investment in the project totals around 250 million francs.
